Yamaha announces huge increase in motorcycle prices

F.P. Report

KARACHI: Yamaha Motor Pakistan Limited has announced a huge increase in the prices of Yamaha motorcycles following the latest price hike by rival companies, on Tuesday.

The company has increased the prices of all models. This time Yamaha bike prices get huge increased by up to RS. 15,500.

According to the new price list issued by the automobile giant, the price of YB 125-Z has been increased by Rs 13,500. The new price stands at Rs 286,000 while it was earlier sold at Rs 273,000. The price of the YB-125Z DX stands at Rs 307000 from Rs 292500.

The price of its most selling unit YBR125 has been increased by Rs15,000 and it is now available at Rs 315,000.

Yamaha YB125Z, the revised price of the Yamaha YB125Z (Red, Black) is RS. 273,000 against the previous price of RS. 255,500.

Yamaha YB125Z-DX, the new price of the Yamaha YB125Z-DX (Red, Blue, Black) is RS. 292,500 after the RS. 273,500 ex-rates.

YBR 125G Limited Edition has been increased by 15500 to 331,000 rupees.

This is reportedly the sixth price hike by Yamaha this year. Lately, Atlas Honda and Pak Suzuki Motor Company also notified a huge increase in the prices of motorbikes amid skyrocketing inflation and depreciation of the Pakistani Rupee (PKR) against the US dollar and the implementation of the Super Tax on the automotive industry.

There is little justification for motorcycle manufacturers to raise prices so frequently and by such significant margins as bike manufacturing has been localized by up to 94 percent in Pakistan.

The people are of the view that the depreciation of the local currency caused price hikes across the board in Pakistan’s auto industry, whether it be for cars or two-wheelers, pushing prices out of reach for an average person.

Electronic and Motorcycle Dealers Alliance general secretary Abdullah Shari said that there is an increase in the price of raw materials that is causing a rapid increase in the prices of motorbikes.
