Yasir Shah eyes return to ODI format

DUBAI (APP): Pakistani wrist spinner Yasir Shah has said that he loves bowling and aims to return to One-Day International (ODI) format.

Shah, who is breaking records and making new ones in the UAE, said so while speaking to media after the conclusion of 2nd day of Dubai Test.

A few days back, he had become the fastest spinner to bag 150 Test wickets, breaking the record of former Australian spinner, Clarrie Grimmett, when he grabbed the wicket of Lahiru Thirimanne in the first Test in Abu Dhabi.

Overall, Shah stands a joint second, alongside fellow Pakistani, Waqar Younis, as the quickest to the landmark. “I feel very proud that I am making records but I try to bowl with full concentration and energy”, he said.

“I feels very happy to see my name with former great bowler Waqar Younis after taking 150 wickets in 27 Tests.” In Dubai on Saturday, Shah completed his 5th consecutive five-wicket haul making him the first spinner in nearly 140 years to claim five consecutive five-wicket hauls.

“I didn’t know it was a record; I got the record information during the press conference”, the spin master said, with a smile on his face.

Shah toiled for 56 overs on a flat batting wicket in Dubai International Cricket Stadium to get six wickets while none of the other bowlers bowled more than 33 overs. The leggie has also been missing a spin specialist partner who could bowl from the other end.

“Yes, definitely I am missing the other spinner in the team; although our fast bowlers did very hard work to get wickets,” he said, adding, “But the track is not helping the bowlers.”

The leg-spinner has created roaring records in Tests but could not show his magical performances in shorter versions of the game. He said that he believes that performing well in leagues would pave way for his ODI return too.
