JALALABAD: Three key commanders were among at least ten Taliban militants killed by intelligence forces during a raid in the Hesarak district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said Thursday.
Attaullah Khogyani, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the National Directorate of Security (NDS) forces targeted a gathering of the insurgents in the district last night, killing 10 militants, including three commanders.
He claimed the insurgents had gathered to attack on security check-posts in the area but they were targeted by NDS personnel. Khogyani said the dead bodies of the Taliban still remained on the battle ground. Two machineguns, one rocket launcher, seven Kalashnikovs, two walkie-talkies, hand grenades, rocket shells and a number of other weapons were seized by the NDS personnel in the raid.
The Taliban have not yet commented about the incident. (Pajhwok)
