Dozens of Taliban killed in operations, airstrikes

KABUL: Dozens of Taliban militants including two of their local commanders and leaders were killed in latest operations of Afghan Special Forces and airstrikes.

According to informed military sources, Afghan Special Forces conducted a raid in Alahsay district of Kapisa province killing Taliban commander Amanullah and two other leaders.

The sources further added that an air strike in Chimtal district of Balkh province killed 7 Taliban fighters. Afghan Special Forces conducted separate raids in Uruzgan province killing 15 Taliban fighters and destroying 50 KG of homemade explosives, and a small weapons cache.

Afghan Special Forces also conducted a raid in Bakwah district of Farah province and confiscated 50KG of Methamphetaine, 2 KG of heroin and 30 KG of morphine-based substance, the source said, adding that the Special Forces conducted a similar raid in Nad Ali district of Helmand province killing 11 Taliban fighters and destroying a small weapons cache and homemade explosive material.

In the meantime, airstrikes were carried out in Helmand province leaving 9 Taliban fighters dead in Nahr-e-Saraj and 6 others in Sangin district, the sources added. (Khaama Press)
