ECP to complete delimitation of constituencies’ process to be May 2018

ISLAMABAD: Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan, Babar Yaqoob has announced on Friday that the delimitation of constituencies will be completed by May 3, 2018.

This  he said while speaking to media persons after an emergency session of the ECP at Islamabad. He informed that five delimitation committees have been established and adding that ECP will complete its arrangements for the next general elections till May 3 next year.

However, he did not give the date for the next general election.

Babar added that ECP have set 45 days for the proposals of delimitation.

Regarding the today’s meeting, Yaqoob said that ECP summoned constituency maps from the provincial government by January 10 for its next session and also directed the provincial governments to install CCTV cameras in the sensitive polling stations.

All the provincial election commissioners, chief secretaries, along with Secretary Pakistan Board of Statistics and Chairman National Database and Registration Authority attended the meeting today.
