Fuel price jump high by 25%

Monitoring Desk

KABUL: Over the last couple of weeks, fuel prices have increased by 20% to 25% higher this year said Kabul residents. Some people demand the central government to address the fuel price issue and come up with a cohesive solution.

According to the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI), a high demand for fuel drives the increase in fuel prices.

Meanwhile, another possible reason for an unprecedented increase in fuel prices is the continuation of snowfalls and rain, which blocks the highways and causes delays in the timely transportation of fuel to Kabul city.

Jan Agha Noori, the ACCI spokesperson, said, “We have invited the fuel sellers and distributor to ACCI and encouraged them to keep the prices as low as possible because of the low economy of our people.”

Whether the incentives given to fuel sellers to maintain prices low solve the issue is yet to be seen in the fuel market.

According to the ACCI spokesperson, this problem is temporary and will be solved soon.

Every year, during the winter months, the price of fuel in Kabul rises due to the high demand for fuel consumption and slow supply of fuel due to transportation issues.(Khaama Press)
