Indonesian committed to play effective role in Afghan peace process: Envoy

KABUL: Indonesian Ambassador to Afghanistan Arif Rahman has said his country was trying to mediate in the Afghan peace process through developing consensus among Ulema.

The Indonesian envoy expressed the views during a meeting with Deputy Chief Executive (CEO) Eng. Mohmmad Khan here.

Qazi Habiburrahman Ibrahimi, media advisor to deputy CEO, told Pajhwok Afghan News bilateral political, economic, trade relation and peace process was discussed during Khan’s and Indonesian envoy meeting.

Eng. Mohammad Khan stressed over peace and stability in the country and termed it important for the regional and global peace and urged the need for joint fight against terrorism.

Recalling the past experiences, Khan stressed over Indonesia’s role in Afghan peace process and said the government was ready reconcile with all groups who wanted to renounce violence and joined peace process.

The Indonesian envoy assured Jakarta’s full support to Afghanistan in traded, education and peace process.

He said his country was trying to contribute in the Afghan peace process by developing joint consensus among Ulema. The joint conference of Afghanistan and Pakistan ulemas is expected to take place in Indonesian next month.

Arif said his country provided education facilities for Afghan students in 20 universities in different fields. He extended invitation to deputy CEO for trade exhibition which will be held in Indonesian next month, said Ibrahimi, adding the CEP accepted the invitation.

Separately, a delegation from Nangarhar met Indonesian envoy in Kabul and assured them cooperation in different areas, said Attaullah Khogyani, the governor spokesman. The delegation was headed by Nangarhar Revenue Department Head.
