Nursing staff vows not to bow before govt pressure over protest

F.P. Report

TIMERGARA: The nursing association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday announced to stage a protest sit-in in front of provincial assembly building during the next session if their demands were not accepted by the government.

The association’s leaders led by its provincial president Inayat ul Haq visited THQ hospital Samar Bagh where the nursing staff boycotted duties and wore black arm bands. Speaking on the occasion Inayat ul Haq, Amanullah Khan, Aminullah and others complained the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, health minister and finance minister had promised them in March, 2015 to accept their five demands including up-gradation of nursing staff, scale-wise health professional allowance, construction of nursing directorate, approval of risk allowance and equal privileges for nurses working either at teaching or district and peripheral hospitals.

They said the government accepted none of these demands despite the passage of three years. “The disparate nursing staff has no option other than to come on roads again like 2015,” Inayat ul Haq said, adding the government had been threatening the protesting employees but they would not bow before the government.

The nursing association demanded immediate approval of their demands and equal facilities for nursing staff like those working in Sindh, Punjab and Baluchistan. It warned to stage protest sit-in in front of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly if their demands were not met.
