SC to resume hearing of Jahangir Tareen disqualification case today

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court will resume hearing of the disqualification case on Tuesday against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Jahangir Tareen.

The case was filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi in the supreme court seeking the disqualification from Parliament of Tareen and PTI Chairman Imran Khan for not declaring the assets and ownerships of offshore companies.

Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar headed the three-member Supreme Court bench and the last hearing of the case was held on October 25when the Chief Justice observed that PTI leader Jahangir Tareen has yet to submit document in the court regarding his UK property.

Tareen submitted the trust deed in the court in the last hearing regarding the 12 acre property he owns in the UK and according to it the trust owns 12 acres in UK and Tareen is a settlor of the trust through its company Shiny View limited and it was created in 2011 for a period of 150 years.

As per the documents Jahangir Tareen and his wife have also been listed as the trust discretionary lifetime beneficiaries and it stated that Tareen can direct the trustees to transfer the income from the trust fund to any of the discretionary beneficiaries including him.

The documents also elaborate that in case Tareen dies, his wife, children and grandchildren will be named as discretionary beneficiaries.
