SC seeks plan from Sindh government to get rid of polluted water

KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has said providing clean drinking water to the people is the prime responsibility of the government.

CJP said this while heading a three member bench on Wednesday, Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Faisal Arab are the other member of the bench. The apex court resumed hearing of a case filed by Advocate Shahab Usto against Sindh government for failing to provide safe water and sanitation system to citizens.

Chief Justice Saqib Nisar observed that human waste was being added to water deliberately and ordered the provincial government to submit a plan within 15 days regarding the supply of safe drinking water and treatment of sewerage.

The hearing was also attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, former Karachi mayor Mustafa Kamal and other officials.
