LASHKARGAH: Two people have been killed and at least 31 others wounded in a car-bomb attack targeting a convoy of security forces in the capital of southern Helmand province.
The blast ripped through the convoy of the Public Order Police in Lashkargah. Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told local media outlet two people were killed and 31 others, mostly civilians, wounded.
A source in the Emergency Hospital in Lashkargah, meanwhile, confirmed receiving 31 injured people and two bodies had been taken to the hospital.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, the group’s spokesman, said the Public Order Police convoy was the target.
He claimed 36 security personnel were killed in the bombing.
