2 dams worth $200,000 being built in Logar

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Construction work on two dams has been launched at a cost of 200,000 US dollars in central Logar province, an official said on Thursday.

At a ceremony in this regard, Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Director Maulvi Sher Aqa Pir Habib ul-Rahman said the two dams were being built in Azra and Charkh districts with the financial support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

He said the projects would help irrigate thousands of acres of agricultural land.

According to him, these projects are an important part the Agriculture Development Plan and similar projects will be executed in other districts.

On the other hand, Deputy Governor Maulvi Mohammad Anwar Dinparwar called the construction of these dams important for agricultural development and water management and explained that similar projects should be extended to other districts of the province.

Dinparwar noted with the launch of these projects, employment opportunities will be provided for about 500 people.
