26500 families given ration bags in the last 24 hours. Sharjeel

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information , Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the relief activities of the Sindh government are in progress and in last 24 hours at least 26500 families have been delivered ration bags.

Since the beginning of distribution total 1528134 families have been delivered ration bags across the province. In his press statement regarding relief operations on Tuesday, Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that ration bags were distributed among 1000 families in Qamber Shahdadkot in past 24 hours.

Similarly, 2000 families in Dadu, 7000 in Hyderabad, 500 in Matari, 1000 in Sajawal, 5000 in Larkana, 800 in Shikarpur, 3500 in Sukkur, 2200 in Sanghar and 1500 families given ration bags in Mirpurkhas.

The provincial minister said that according to report of Provincial Disaster Management Authority 1500 tents and other relief goods have also been distributed among the displaced people. So far, 603719 tents, 535317 plastic tarpaulins, 3140186 mosquito nets, 800733 liters of mineral water, 118123 daigs of prepared food and other relief items have been provided to the victim of floods and rains.

The provincial minister said that in the last 24 hours, 8628 more affected people have left for their homes from the relief camps, while currently 265039 affectees are staying in the relief camps and tent cities including 76721 children and 59915 women , who are being served prepared food twice a day , besides health facilities are also being ensured. Sharjeel Inam Memon said that 779 precious lives have been lost and 8422 people have sustained injuries in recent natural calamity.

He said that water inflow at Guddu barrage is recorded 59300 and discharge at 49900 cusecs. Sukkur barrage guage is flowing at 47500 and discharge at 37000 cusecs, while the water inflow at Kotri barrage is recorded at 86200 cusecs and discharge 57500 cusecs.
