Body of missing child found in uncle’s home

TIMERGARA: The Lower Dir police with the technical assistance of Counter Terrorism Department and Crimes’ Branch Peshawar finally traced a child missing case and recovered his dead body from the under-construction house of his maternal uncle at BaghMaidan in the jurisdiction of LalQila police station here on Thursday.

The child was buried in the lawn of the house. An official of the Lal Qila police station said that a 4th grader Arsalan s/o Muhammad Nabi, a resident of Gumbatay Maidan had been missing since July 2, 2018 whose missing report was lodged by his maternal uncle Muhammad Wahid and relatives and police started his search. Later the family was informed that the child had been kidnapped for ransom. On return from Dubai the child’s father nominated Muhammad Wahid, his wife and son Zahoor in the case and police arrested them. The accused were released from jail on bail.

The alleged prime accused according to police left for Saudi Arabia. The Maidan police sought help from the CTD and Crimes’ Branch Peshawar. The CTD and Crimes’ Branch took Zahoor, son of Muhammad Wahid into custody again three days ago who not only confessed but also identified the place where the child was buried. The Maidan police and TMA staff in the presence of a civil judge and doctors on Thursday recovered the body from the lawn of a under-construction house. The LalQila police registered a case under section 302 CPC against Muhammad Wahid and his son Zahoor.

The funeral prayer was offered and the child was buried at his ancestral grave yard at Gumbatay Maidan. Meanwhile hundreds of local residents took out a procession from Bagh Maidan and chanted slogans in favour of police. The protesters were demanding exemplary punishment to the accused and reward to concerned police officials for tracing out the case.
