Holy Quran roadmap for human lives: Ahsan

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal Thursday said the holy Quran acts like a road map for human lives and in depth learning and understanding of the holy Quran can help achieving new heights especially in realm of science and technology.

He was speaking at the 20th anniversary of Sout-ul-Quran FM channel of Radio Pakistan here at Pakistan Broadcasting House.

The event was also attended by Leader of the House in Senate, Raja Zafar ul Haq.

Ahsan Iqbal said the holy Quran’s teachings invite the human being to explore the universe; however we, being Muslims have not benefited fully from thought provoking verses of the holy book.

“Being Muslims, it is our religious obligation to have in-depth research of the holy book so that we should fully explore the potential of this universe.

He said the Sout-ul-Quran channel is serving people belonging to all segments of the society by providing equal opportunity to listen Quran with translations 19 hours in a day from 19 stations in the country.

He said the government will soon open new stations of the FM channel to ensure broadcasting of the channel at every nook and cranny of the country.

Earlier, Raja Zafar ul Haq in his address said while considering the importance of Quran channel on radio Pakistan, he helped establishment of the channel in 1998 which was initially started for five years on three stations.

He said this is a holy channel which was serving the humanity and its coverage is needed to be extended to all areas of the country.

He said Radio Pakistan is the mother of all institutions related to broadcasting sectors as it has helped providing training to the professionals who are now running various television channels.

Director General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, Shafqat Jalila also spoke on the occasion.
