Admn takes action to enforce transport fares

MARDAN: In response to the recent decrease in petroleum prices, the Deputy Commissioner of Mardan, Muhammad Fayyaz Khan Sherpao, has directed the administration officers to ensure the implementation of government-regulated fares.

This initiative aims to protect the public from unfair pricing practices within the public transport sector. Taking swift action, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Mardan, Saeedullah Jan, conducted visits to various bus stands to gather information on the fares being charged from passengers.

Subsequently, actions were taken against those who were found violating the official fare list. Stand managers were instructed to adhere strictly to the government-mandated fares. Additionally, a joint effort involving Additional Assistant Commissioners Buraq Awan, Rashid Khan, Attaullah, and Kamran Khan, along with the traffic police, was initiated to inspect fares at different squares and stands.

Drivers found charging above the government-approved fares were fined, and stand managers were directed to enforce the official fare list rigorously. The citizen of Mardan appreciated the action administration. Khalid khan said that it’s a commendable move by the administration to crack down on overcharging by public transport. This not only helps ease the financial burden on citizens but also ensures a fair and regulated system. Kudos to the officials for taking prompt action.

Another passenger came to Mardan for his business dealing, said that enforcing official fares is a step in the right direction. It provides relief to the common people who often bear the brunt of arbitrary pricing. The administration’s initiative will surely make public transportation more accessible and affordable for everyone.

The proactive approach taken by the Mardan administration has garnered positive feedback from citizens who appreciate the efforts to create a fair and transparent system within the public transport sector. The crackdown on overcharging is seen as a positive step toward ensuring affordability and fairness for the residents of Mardan. Meanwhile, the Commissioner Mardan Division Shaukat Ali Yousafzai presided over a special meeting on the preparation of general elections.

Commissioner directed the officers concerned to extend all possible assistance to the Election Commission for ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections. He reiterated that extending administrative support to ECP is our constitunal obligation. Commissioner directed DC Mardan and DC Swabi to immediately convene meeting of the District Intelligence Coordination Committee to discuss the security issues and other issues relating to the conduct of elections. Regional and District Election Commissioners must be consulted and taken on board so that their election related requirements are timely met.

Coordination with the election authorities should be the top priority of the DCs. Meeting was attended by RPO Mardan, Additional Commissioner DCs and DPOs of Mardan Division, and Regional and District Election Commissioners.
