KABUL: Residents in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul leveled strong criticisms against President Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah for failing to fix the country’s fragile security situation that is costing lives on a daily basis.
They said that the political leaders were preoccupied in power-sharing issues instead of providing security to the people.
This comes hours after gunmen stormed a maternity clinic in the west of Kabul, killing over 24 civilians, including the women and babies.
Residents in the western part of Kabul strongly criticized Abdulalh for doing nothing for them except issuing sympathy messages.
Up to 200 Afghans were killed in a series of attacks in Kabul, Nangarhar and Balkh provinces.
“They are not leaders, all of them are traitors,” said Hamid, a resident of Kabul.
They also said that the political leaders come to them only during the elections and then forget to deliver on the promises to the people.
“They (Ghani and Abdullah) should feel shame and step down,” said SayedRamin, a resident in western Kabul.
People also said that if Abdullah calls himself the president, where is he now to heal the wounds of the people?
“They (political leaders) are busy in their internal conflict, they are not thinking about the nation,” said Hussain Dad, a resident.
Abdullah’s spokesman condemned the attack:
“They (attackers) once again demonstrated their brutality and atrocity,” said OmidMaisam, a spokesman for Abdullah.
And Ghani’s spokesman said that the two leaders will soon come to a settlement. “The people will be informed soon about the details of the political agreement and this will be signed very soon,” said SediqSediqqi, a Spokesman for Afghan President Ghani.(TOLOnews)
