Two killed, several injured in Peshawar blast

PESHAWAR: Two persons were killed and another injured in a blast in Board Bazar area of Peshawar on Sunday morning. According to Rescue 1122, the bomb was fitted in the motorbike on Nasir Bagh road that caused the blast. The bodies and the injured were shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar.

Meanwhile, The preliminary report of the explosion in Board Bazaar has released by the police and the dead terrorists in the bomb blast in board bazar were suicide attacker, hailing from Dir, residing in Peshawar. The suicide attack has been identified as Suleman, preliminary report said and their target was PTI public meeting in Kabutar Chowk Peshawar. Another killed terrorist is being identified, Police officials said.

The investigation team is also investigating the injured person in Peshawar, said the preliminary report. Four to five kilograms of explosives were used in the Board Bazar blast, BDS team said. Explosive materials were being moved to another place by those killed in the blast, Police said. Two people were killed and one person was injured in the Board Bazaar blast, Police said.

Two people from the board explosion were brought to Khyber Teaching Hospital, a spokesman of the hospital Sajjad Khan said. He said that the injured person’s name is Usman, aged 30 years. The condition of the injured person is critical and he is being given first aid, Spokesman Sajjad Khan said.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi here Sunday said that the explosion on Nasirbagh Road was occurred during the transfer of explosives in a motorcycle, killing two persons on the spot and critically injuring another. Talking to the media, the SSP said that the bomb disposal unit’s (BDU) report has disclosed that the powerful explosion was ripped through an explosive-packed motorcycle, and declared that it was not a suicide blast.

He said that three persons were transporting the explosive material through a motorcycle detonated on Nasir Bagh Road with a loud sound. The injured was shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar. The BDU’s report has revealed that the dead and injured are alleged terrorists and no citizen was harmed in the attack.

PM strongly condemns terrorist attack in Peshawar: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned a terrorist incident in the Board Bazaar of Peshawar on Sunday. The prime minister prayed for the high ranks of the departed souls and expressed condolences with the bereaved families, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.

He also directed the provision of all possible medical treatment to the injured. The prime minister reiterated his resolve to root out terrorism.

CM KP condemns blast in board bazar: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Ghandapur Sunday condemns blast in Board Bazar on main University road and directed Inspector General of Police to submit a complete report of the bomb blast in which two persons were killed and another injured.

Talking to mediamen at the site of the bomb blast, SSP Operation Kashif Aftab Abbasi said that investigation is being conducted to ascertain whether it was a suicide bomber onboard a motorcycle with a facilitator or the explosive material was being carried to one place from other for a major blast planning.

“We are working on it,” he said, adding, two people have been killed, one injured while one person died on the spot”.

SSP operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi disclosed that 4 to 5 kg explosives have been used and the investigation is going on, however, it is known that explosive materials were being transferred from one place to another. What was the target, the investigation is going on, he said. However, the names of the accused are not being disclosed, SSP Operations said. He said two persons on a motorcycle were killed in the explosion while one was injured and the motorcyclists are being identified. The motorcycle was going from Board Bazar to Nasir Bagh, he added.
