CDPR organizes seminar on idea of growth in KP

PESHAWAR: A seminar on “Ideas of Growth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” was held on Tuesday at a local hotel in Peshawar wherein participants from different walks of life participated.

The seminar was organized by Consortium for Development Policy Research (CDPR) and International Growth Centre (IGC) in partnership with the Planning and Development Department, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The seminar had three sessions on state capability, urban Planning and CPEC related growth opportunities. The seminar was opened by CDPR Chairman, and Country Director of the IGC Dr. Ijaz Nabi by throwing light on “reclaiming prosperity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”.

The first session of the seminar was on “improving Urban Planning.” The session was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Shehzad Bangash. Secretary Transport, Secretary Education and Secretary Finance Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also addressed the session. The second session was about enhancing State capabilities.

The third session of the seminar was on “CPEC challenges and opportunities” which was moderated by Mr. Ishrat Hussain, former governor State Bank of Pakistan. Addressing on the occasion, Mr. Qaisar Alam Secretary Information and Public Relations said that CPEC has reevaluated the role of the Information Department to not only disseminate Information to stakeholders and the citizens but also get feedback from stakeholders. Mr. Fahim Wazir Secretary Industries also addressed the session and said that CPEC offers the potential to develop Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s steel and cement industries.
