Cone Beam Computed Tomography inaugurated

PESHAWAR: Khyber College Dentistry is the first public sector dental college of KP which will provide Cone Beam Computed Tomography – CBCT which is an x-ray imaging technology where a large number of 2D and 3D images taken from head and neck region. The clinical skills and academics of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees will improve with the addition of this latest machine.

The patient is exposed for 15 seconds and its takes total 10 minutes to get final print. The worth of machine is Rs 17 million approx which provides all necessary diagnostic information from single unit gives full sinus visualization and improved patient satisfaction. It has diverse uses in maxillofacial surgery, operative dentistry, orthodontics, Prothetics, facial reconstruction and treatment planning departments of dentistry as well as ENT.

The Cone Beam Computed Tomography – CBCT was inaugurated by Chairman BoG Dr Faisal Sultan. The ceremony attended by the members of BoGs Prof Dr Nadeem Khawar, Ms Shahana Zubair, Prof Dr Shah Jehan, Dr Muhammad Mohsin, Mr Dilroze Khan, Dean KMC Prof Dr Noor-ul-Iman, Dean KCD Prof Dr Ghulam Rasool, MTI KTH Medical Director Prof Dr Rooh-ul-Muqim, Hospital Director Dr Nek Dad Khan and senior faculty along with other staff.

As compared to CT scans its resolution is very high and it provides ultra-low radiation dosage. It provides following features that can be utilized in all specialties of dentistry, 3D CT Scan, 3D model scanning, Extra oral imaging, Cephalometry KCD staff members will be trained individually about its usage by Company Expert. Furthermore College management intends to keep this machine functional from 08:00 am to 08:00 pm and allow the other institutions and private practioners to utilize this facility.

After the implementation of MTI Act 2015 the nomenclature has been changed to Dean. Dean is assisted by Academic Council, Associate Dean’s, Chairman Clinical & Allied and Chairman Basic Sciences & Allied.

Prof Dr Ghulam Rasool was the acting Dean of Khyber College of Dentistry from 20th June 2015 to 2nd March 2017 and on 3rd March 2017 he took the charge as the 1st regular dean of Khyber College of Dentistry. The institution has progressed a lot due to the untiring efforts of the dean.
