ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court (AC) in Islamabad on Friday extended the judicial remand of Khursheed Anwar Jamali till May 4 in multi-billion rupees fake bank accounts case.
The hearing was resumed by the duty judge Shahrukh Arjumand whereas it was revealed before the court that accused could not be produced due to lockdown as well as lawyers were not appearing due to threat of Coronavirus spread.
The court extended the judicial remand of Jamali, an employee of Nooriabad Power Plant who was in jail over allegations of financial misappropriation in Nooriabad power plant and money laundering.
The case was linked to the major money laundering and fake accounts case in which former president Asif Ali Zardari, his sister Faryal Talpur and other prominent figures involved.
The accused allegedly committed corruption in purchase of machinery for Nooriabad Power Plant project.
He allegedly had played an important role in money laundering through fake bank account.
Jamali has also worked for the Sindh government as a consultant.
