COVID-19: Two ICT localities sealed

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration Thursday sealed two more localities of the Federal Capital, including Rimsha Colony in H-9 Sector and Shehzad Town, following the reports of two confirmed coronavirus cases.

“Pursuant to the recent confirmed reports of individuals infected with the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) residing in Rimsha Colony, H-9, Islamabad and Shehzad Town, Islamabad, the entire areas falling in these localities are hereby sealed forthwith exercise of powers conferred under Epidemic Disease Act (1958), in the larger public interest and to prevent widespread outbreak of the virus,” a notification issued by the administration said.

“Moreover, Islamabad Police, Rangers and Pakistan Army are requested to cordon off above mentioned area to ensure the public safety,” it added.

The Union Council Kot Hathial in Barakahu has already been sealed after a few pew persons were confirmed as COVID-19 patients.

Faisal Mahmood a 40-years old resident of H-9 Shahzad town Islamabad traveled to the Tablighi Ijtima organized in Lahore some two weeks ago and participated along with thousands of others and returned to their home.

On 20th march on Friday Faisal Mahmood”s mother in law died and he went to the funeral congregation and meet with dozens of people including friends and latterly meet with other family members in the death mourning according to the statistics shared by the family members with police.on 23th march he faced some health issues including coughing, fever and dehydration and after medical examination his covid-19 test come positive following that he was quarantine and the premises of the shahzad town sealed by the government on Thursday noon following the confirm case of the Mahmmood.

A resident of the Shahzad town told that Faisal Mahmood after returning from Tablighi Ijtima not only participated in their mother in-law funeral congregation but as well move in various area including streets, shops, mosque and other places for preaching purposes and arrange mini gatherings inside the mosque as well.

The Palestine health ministry in a statement said t-hat two of their citizens after participating in Tablig-hi Ijtimah in Pakistan found positive of the covid-19.

The capital administration on Thursday in a statement announce that following the confirmation of a confirmed case of the Faisal the police and armed forces seal the entrance and exit locations of the town and no one are allowed to move anywhere, the notification added that those who participated in the funeral ceremony of Faisal’s mother in law isolate themselves and do their medical test for the covid-19 on emergency basis.
