Efforts to control media, EC, courts exposes govt’s dictatorial mindset: Siraj

F.P. Report

LAHORE: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Sirajul Haq has said the government is bent upon the controlling of media, election commission and courts, hence exposing its dictator mindset.

In a statement issued from Mansoora on Monday, he expressed concern over the ruling party’s mindset, saying it would bring potential harm to already fragile democracy.

The prime minister, Sirajul Haq said, made frequent statements regarding the freedom of press in past but his government now completely disowned the old stance. The PTI government was not different from the past regimes and it religiously followed the policies of the former government to control every institution in its favor, he said adding that the PTI deceived the nation in the name of Madina-State and “change”.

“We stand with the media in its protest demonstration against the government proposed Media Development Authority.”

The government tactics to curb the media freedom would never succeed, he added. Sirajul Haq regretted the PTI failed to strengthen economy as inflation and unemployment made people’s life miserable. He said the government also made attack on the ideological boundaries. He said the madris and religious scholars were under attack in the PTI tenure.

He said the people must stand against the corrupt system and vote for those who wanted to bring real change in the country. He said the JI would transform Pakistan into a welfare Islamic state if voted to power.
