EU foreign policy chief meets top Saudi diplomat in AlUla to discuss Gaza

RIYADH: The EU’s foreign policy chief met with Saudi Arabia’s top diplomat in AlUla on Monday to discuss the Gaza war and ways to end the humanitarian crisis there.

Josep Borrell and Prince Faisal bin Farhan also discussed other regional issues as well as ties between Saudi Arabia and the European Union, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said.

Borrell landed in Saudi Arabia after visiting Beirut, where fears of a new Lebanon-Israel continue to increase following cross-border clashes between Iran-backed Hezbollah and Israel.

From Beirut, Borrell warned that a regional war would not be in anyone’s interest.

AlUla has seen several senior diplomats and lawmakers visit to meet with Saudi officials in recent days. The chairman of the US Senate Intel Committee led a delegation to the oasis city to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Senator Lindsey Graham also met with MBS in a separate meeting.
