Farmers concerned about impact of snowfall in Bamyan

BAMYAN (TOLOnews): Different parts of the center and districts of Bamyan province have witnessed snowfall in recent days.

Several farmers report that their fields and fruit trees have been damaged by the snowfall.

Some farmers say that with the increasing cold, the seeds of wheat and potatoes planted in their fields will be destroyed.

Qorban, a farmer, said, “The weather has become very cold, and there is a possibility of frost affecting those who have planted potatoes.”

However, Zabihullah Rabbani, the head of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock in Bamyan, considers the precipitation levels in the center and districts of this province to be beneficial for water resources.

According to Rabbani, this snowfall has occurred mostly in the districts of Yakawlang, Panjab, Waras, and parts of Kahmard and Saighan, including the center of the province.

The head of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock in Bamyan stated, “There has been about 196 millimeters of rain across Bamyan, and in some areas, including in the districts at the center, there has been snowfall.”

Meanwhile, Samiullah Haq Bayan, the head of Information and Culture in Nuristan, says that the rainfalls, in addition to blocking some communication roads, have also caused significant damage to the people.

Haq Bayan, said, “As a result of the recent rains, the people of Nuristan have suffered financial losses.”

In the past three days, in addition to the provinces of Bamyan and Nuristan, provinces such as Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Sar-e Pol, Jowzjan, Paktia, and Panjshir have also experienced snowfall, which has resulted in significant losses for farmers and orchardists.
