Former CM security: PHC orders govt to submit reply

PESHAWAR: A divisional bench of Peshawar High Court (PHC) comprised Justice SM Attique Shah and Justice Syed Arshad Ali ordered Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for submission reply against removal of security from former Chief Ministers on Mahmood Khan plea, on Tuesday.

The counsel Shumail Ahmad Butt advocate argued for provision of security as the provincial government sacked earlier. He further added that firstly two personnel will be deployed for security of former Chief Minister then it is increased eight guards.

However, Justice Ijaz Anwar remarked that the providing eight security personnel to lay burden on public exchequer and argued for adaptation of simplicity will be better. If someone facing threats then it is entertainable, Justice Ijaz observed.

The petitioner is former Chief Minister and politicians are facing more threats than common man, the counsel argued. He added that any unfortunate with Chief Minister will raise serious question regarding security of the province.

In the meantime, Justice SM Attique observed that session judges, commissioners and deputy commissioners will also ask for provision of security in future. He added that session judges are more vulnerable to threats because they are granting judgement to convict outlaws. PHC’s divisional bench issued notice to provincial government and ordered for submission of reply in the regard while adjourned further hearing.

Meanwhile, PHC similar ordered both federal and provincial government for submission reply against enlisting Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) backed Member National Assembly Ali Khan Jadoon in Provisional National Identification List (PNIL) within seven days. The counsel Ali Azeem advocate argued for removal of Ali Khan from PNIL while PHC adjourned hearing after initial arguments.

PTI four lawmakers bail extended: Special Anti-Corruption Court Khyber Pakhtunkhwa extended bail of former Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, his brother Aqib Ullah, Rangeez Khan and Shahram Khan till 14th May in illegal recruitment case. During hearing Shahram Khan, Aqib Ullah and Rangeez Khan appeared before Special Anti-corruption court Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while Asad Qaiser was absent from the proceedings.

According to prosecution, Shahram Tarakai, Muhammad Ali Tarakai, Asad Qaiser, Aqib Ullah and Rangeez Khan are nominated two cases of illegal recruitment in Swabi district. The accused had obtained interim bail from concerned court in the case, the prosecution pleaded.

Former Minister Shahram Tarakai asked Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to quash fabricated cases against PTI workers and argued for punishment of culprits involved in corruption. This he asked while addressing media personnel at Peshawar High Court.
