ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary Tuesday said the government has approved five Eid holidays.

Earlier, it was reported that the interior ministry has sent a proposal to the federal government for seven holidays on the eve of the Eidul Fitr. However, the government has decided to approve five holidays for Eid.

Earlier in the day, the NCOC has already banned Eid and tourism travel from May 8 to May 16 as the coronavirus situation in the country worsens.

Fawad also gave a hint at complete lockdown but said they would have to complete all the preparations before imposing a complete lockdown.

He said some two million people have been vaccinated so far and there are 3.7million further vaccine doses available in the country.

Fawad said there are over 5000 coronavirus patients in critical condition in the country and if the need arises they may import oxygen from Iran and China.
