Govt decision irks Islamabad based clerics

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan while chairing the meeting of the National Coordination Committee decided extension in lockdown due to the increasing number of Pandemic covid-19 from Tuesday while on the other side on Monday more than 50 religious clerics hailing from different school of thoughts meets in Islamabad and announced that they will not accept the government directions of limiting Friday congregations and Taraweeh in Ramzan in the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus in the country The Frontier Post got an agenda copy of issued after the meeting.

The agenda issued to media added that around 53 religious clerics of different school of thoughts attended the meeting organized in the Darul-Ulum Zikria Tarnol headed by Maulana Peer Aziz-u-Rehman here on Monday.

Its pertained to mentioned here that on previous Friday different mosques in Islamabad and Rawalpindi opposed the directions of the government and offered Friday congregation where not only hundreds of people participated as well they directed the people to avoid social distancing.

The meeting notes mentioned that due to the outbreak of the virus and the chaos created around the world including Pakistan and the lockdown of the mosques inside the country led the Muslims into anxiety and their decision made them upset which will never be accepted to us. Adding that they will carry on the Friday congregations, five times daily prayers and Taraweeh in Ramzan following the precautionary measures and will ensure availability of soap and hand sanitizers inside the mosques.   

Meanwhile in federal capital Islamabad section-144 has been imposed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus in Islamabad and the SOPs formed for Friday congregation mentioned that not more than 5 people are allowed to offer Friday prayers at the mosque.

The clerics condemned the arrest of religious leaders across the country specifically in Islamabad added that they cooperated with government but despite that they are arresting us which will never be tolerated and demand to abolish all charges lodged against the clerics. The meeting added that the selected actions against the members of the Tablighe Jam-mat should be stop immediately as well we condemn the media trial of the Jam-mat while associating them with the cause of increasing numbers of the covid-19.

When contacted DC Islamabad Hamza regarding the recent development of opposing capital administration by religious clerics, he remained unavailable for comments.
