KARACHI: Hamdard Pakistan’s ultimate aim is to follow Hakim Mohammed Said’s vision: “Love Pakistan, Build Pakistan”. Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said was a patriot, an exemplary Muslim, a physician par excellence, and a strong proponent of national unity.

In his lifetime, he encouraged all those fellow remarkable Pakistanis who used to brighten the name of the country with their exceptional services to the nation in various fields. These views were expressed by Ms. Sadia Rashid, President Hamdard Foundation Pakistan. She was addressing the gathering of Shura Hamdard Karachi titled: “Respecting The Masses” held yesterday at a local hotel.

The occasion also included the distribution of the Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said Awards followed by the annual dinner reception in honour of Shura Hamdard members.

While congratulating the awardees, she said: “Congratulations to Musarrat Misbah, Shabina Mustafa, Police Constables Saleem Brohi, Khalil Jatoi, and Rafiq Soomro. It’s essential to recognize that this achievement belongs not just to you but to all of us as a nation. Hamdard Pakistan extends its tribute to you, expressing the expectation that you will persist in your commendable efforts to serve the country and the nation in the future.”

Shabina Mustafa is a social entrepreneur and the founder of The Garage School located in Neelum Colony, Karachi which educates underprivileged children in Karachi who cannot afford education. Police constables Saleem Brohi, Khalil Jatoi and Rafiq Soomro fought valiantly against terrorists during the Pakistan Stock Exchange terror attack and killed all four terrorists. Recognizing their valuable services to the nation, Ms. Sadia Rashid conferred the Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said Awards to these individuals.

Special guest SSP Ali Raza thanked Ms. Sadia Rashid and Hamdard Pakistan and discussed the PSX attack in detail. He also highlighted the fact that Hamdard University provides free education to the children of Police martyrs.

Earlier, Speaker of Hamdard Shura, Gen (r) Moinuddin Haider presided over the Shura Hamdard meeting and said: “Respecting The Masses ” involves the peaceful transfer of power and decentralization of authority to local governance levels.

vercoming our national challenges requires establishing a balance of power and authority among institutions progressively. The primary cause of public uneasiness is the lack of training among the general population as the people are unaware of their responsibilities toward the state. In the Chinese political model, the transfer of power is conducted transparently. The political structure in China also prioritizes the well-being of the people and ensures the provision of basic needs.

Zubaida Mustafa said that when democracy is discussed, there’s a common assumption that the Western democratic model is the standard. However, democracy is an adaptable system that nations can tailor to their requirements by incorporating their cultural, social and historical values and aspects.

Ibn-ul-Hassan Rizvi said that democracy is the best form of governance for a multi-ethnic and culturally diverse country like Pakistan. Only through democracy can all communities find adequate representation within the system. Pakistan came into existence after a long peaceful democratic struggle.

Prof. Dr. Hakim Abdul Hannan said that there exists a significant lack of mutual trust between the elite, the ruling class, and the general population. Political parties should gain insight into the issues and hardships faced by the people through local meetings. In this regard, it is crucial to provide opportunities to educated individuals from the middle class who directly experience these challenges in their everyday lives.

Usman Damohi said that democracy is essential for the survival of Pakistan. Despite this, the country has experienced four martial laws in the last seven decades. Simultaneously, instances of military dictation, interference, and authoritarian behavior persist even during democratic administrations. Unfortunately, even knowing the significance of democracy for a diverse country like Pakistan, an unproductive debate persists among political leaders, the ruling class, the mass media, and the public regarding which system Pakistan should embrace.
