Hanif seeks assistance for returning refugees

ATLANTA (Pajhwok): The Acting Minister of Economy Qari Din Mohammad Hanif says the forcible deportation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan is against all international migration laws. He has also asked domestic and global aid organisations to provide assistance for the returnees and deportees as soon as possible. In a statement, the Ministry of Economy (MoE) said Hanif met the deputy head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and representatives of aid agencies on Wednesday. Hanif asked his interlocutors for expediting the process of aid delivery to the returnees from neighbouring countries. He commended the participation of UN offices in providing aid to the returnees at the crossings and urged acceleration and expansion of assistance to the returnees. He said the forcible deportations of Afghan refugees from Pakistan were against all international migration laws and asked aid bodies to provide them with generous assistance. Hanif suggested assistance should be effective, sustainable, in line with the weather and needs of families to make the needy people self-reliant. UNAMA officials shared information about their activities and expressed satisfaction with continued support to the Afghans.
