IMF slaves Pakistan economy, says Ilyas Bilour

F.P. Report

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) Senior leader, Ilyas Ahmad Bilour on Tuesday expressed concern over appointment of a dual nationality holder and an official of IMF as Governor State Bank of Pakistan, which apparently indicated that the incumbent government had made the country slave of IMF by accepting of its every demand.

In a statement issued, the former senator Ilyas Bilour said that former president Gen (retired) Pervez Musharraf had imported Shuakat Aziz from United States when he came into power, which was initially appointed him as Finance Minister and later on Prime Minister of Pakistan.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is towing the line of former president Pervez Musharraf by appointment of IMF employees on important positions in the country, which was not in best interest of Pakistan and its people.

The government is under severe pressure of IMF as the dual national holder Dr Reza Baqir had made his National Identity Card on 4 May 2019 and appointed him as Governor the State Bank of Pakistan, Bilour said.

He furthermore maintained that the appointment of IMF employee on the highest position as Governor SBP is reflecting that Pakistan has been completely handed over to IMF.

He said the employees of IMF will now sit on both side of table to make the Pakistan slave, while they will also decide the future of Pakistani nation, which are not Pakistani national.

Bilour said that government is taking dictation from IMF, which was main reason of devaluation of Pakistani currency, pushing up the prices of essential food commodities, and country being confronted with financial crunch.

He appealed that Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa to take ‘suo-notice’ over appointment of dual nationality holder and IMF employee as Governor State Bank of Pakistan.
