ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) confirmed on Friday that the weekly inflation measured by the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), increased by 1.35 per cent by the last week ending March 8th,2024.
According to details, the latest data from the PBS showed that the SPI measures the annual rate of inflation as 32.89 percent.
The data showed a price rise in almost 18 essential items while a decrease in 10 items and no change in prices of 23 basic items.
As per the report, Tomato rates went up by 21.96% in one week. Bananas became expensive by 21.76% and eggs by 7.15%, as per the Bureau of Statistics.
In recent weeks, onion has gone up by 5.57% and garlic by 3.62%, whereas, the overall data shows an immense price increase in necessary items including garlic, mutton, beef, chicken, and LPG.
However, Cooking oil fell by 1.08 percent and ghee by 1.07 percent in a week, reports said
In recent weeks, flour, sugar, rice, and pulses have become cheaper, according to the Bureau of Statistics.
