LAHORE: Jahangir Khan Tareen-led Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) had decided to contest general elections on the eagle’s symbol, said party’s secretary information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Thursday.

In a statement, she said an application would be submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the registration of party symbol this week.

The electoral watchdog has already sought applications from the eligible political parties to obtain election symbols for the elections of the national and provincial Assemblies.

According to the ECP spokesperson, the applications signed by the party chiefs could be submitted by July 19 for getting one of the allotted election symbols.

Former PTI leaders Jahangir Khan Tareen and Abdul Aleem Khan had formally launched the party on June 8 and later appointed several office-bearers.
