SHARJAH: Islamabad United has defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 12 runs in Pakistan Super League (PSL) match played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday night.

According to details, the young fast bowler of Islamabad United Muhammad Musa proved himself as the X-factor in the Friday night match and took 3-for-23 runs.

Later, the franchise’s skipper Mohammad Sami recorded a phenomenal hattrick in the game’s last over with the dismissals of Wahab Riaz, Umaid Asif, and Hasan Ali in the death overs. He gave 22 runs in his spell.

Pollard scored 51 off 22, with three fours and five sixes on a 231.81 strike rate.

Middle-order batter Ian Bell, with a half-century, powered Islamabad United to 158 against Zalmi in the second match of the day.

Sameen Gul and Hasan Ali took three and two wickets, respectively, while Umaid Asif, Pollard, and Riaz took one each.

Riding high on last night’s win against Karachi Kings, Zalmi were looking to continue their momentum against United but failed to do so. Despite kicking off their campaign for the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) fourth edition with a six-wicket loss to Quetta, the “Yellow Storm” turned things around for themselves by beating Qalandars by seven wickets.

Zalmi then defeated Kings in a thrilling encounter by 44 runs to solidify their position.

United, who had started off the tournament with a win against Qalandars, stumbled and lost their next game to Multan Sultans by five wickets and then to Quetta Gladiators by seven wickets.
