Kazai repeats calls for schools and universities to be reopened to girls

KABUL (TOLOnews): On the eve of the start of the new academic year, Afghanistan’s former president Hamid Karzai has once again called on the Islamic Emirate to reopen high schools and universities to girls.
“On the eve of the beginning of the new academic year, I once again ask the caretaker government to open the doors of schools and universities to Afghan girls and provide better education and advancement opportunities; so that our country is free from needing others, self-sufficient and an opponent for its competitors,” Afghanistan’s former president Hamid Karzai said in a post on X.
He said the days leading up to the start of the new academic year had been a time of celebration for girls and boys, knowing they would resume their education but now, for “nearly three years, the girls of the country have been deprived of education and cannot go to school and university, learn science, and as a result, serve their family and country.”
Karzai said that learning and gathering knowledge is the way of survival, growth, honor and liberation of any human society.
