Kazemi Qomi: Taliban diplomat severely dealt with for torturing Iranian photographer

KABUL (Khaama Press): Kazemi Qomi explained the beating and torture of an Iranian photographer by a Taliban diplomat at the Afghan consulate in Mashhad.

Iran’s special representative said the offender was severely dealt with, stating that the employee had to leave, and this action was taken.

According to the Iranian media outlets, reported that a Taliban diplomat dragged an Iranian photographer into the Afghan consulate in Mashhad and tortured her.

The report said that the Taliban diplomat was expelled from Iran following the photographer’s complaint.

According to the report, the incident occurred on December 16, 2023. Subsequently, the Iranian photographer complained to the Iranian government about Dr. Salim, the main perpetrator of the violence and a Taliban diplomat.

Salim, a member of the Taliban, worked as the first secretary at the Afghan consulate in Mashhad.

On Saturday, in a press conference in Tehran, Kazemi Qomi said, “Any political or consular representative in Iran who violates diplomatic principles will naturally be dealt with by our diplomatic apparatus.”

Qomi added that the Iranian photographer was a woman but provided no further details about her.

The press conference comes after the Afghanistan Contact Group meeting, Qomi emphasized Afghanistan’s importance and terrorism concerns, referencing attacks in Moscow, Kandahar, and Pakistan.

Qomi stressed Iran’s commitment to securing its border with Afghanistan, noting the construction of a modern wall. He believes Afghanistan’s developments impact its surroundings, with terrorism and migration being major concerns.
