Muttaqi stresses united Islamic stance against Israel

KABUL (Pajhwok): Foreign Minister Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi has strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrike on Qatar and emphasized the need for Islamic countries to adopt a united, serious and meaningful stance against Israel.

Last Tuesday, Israel carried out an airstrike in Doha, the capital of Qatar, targeting a Hamas negotiating delegation.

The Qatari government described the strike as “a blatant violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity” and condemned it in the strongest terms.

Several other countries, along with the UN Security Council, also condemned the attack, calling it a serious threat to regional stability and a breach of international law.

In a telephone conversation with Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, Muttaqi strongly denounced the Israeli strike on Qatari soil.

He assured that the Afghan people and government stand firmly alongside Qatar in these critical circumstances, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said in a statement.

Muttaqi noted, “Alongside nearly two years of continuous genocide in Gaza, the attack on the Palestinian negotiating delegation in Doha is a blatant violation of international laws, norms and values.”

He stressed that Islamic countries must adopt a united, serious and meaningful position against the Israeli regime.

For his part, Dr. Al-Khulaifi expressed gratitude to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) for its condemnation and support, calling it a clear sign of brotherhood.

He also outlined Qatar’s mediation policy regarding negotiations between Hamas and Israel, emphasizing that the attack occurred while the Palestinian delegation was discussing a ceasefire proposal, making it a direct assault on peace efforts.
