NAB starts inquiry against Ex-PSF chairman

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Rawalpindi has started inquiry against former Chairman of Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), Dr Manzoor Hussain Soomro and officers/officials of Ministry of Science and Technology.

As per details, Dr Soomro was appointed illegally as Chairman of PSF (BPS-22), Director General (BPS-21) Pakistan Scientific & Technological Information and as president Economic Coordination Organization (ECO) Science Foundation.

He made illegal appointments and promotions while misusing his authority, a press release said.

In another case, NAB Rawalpindi has also initiated inquiry against officers and officials of Capital Development Authority (CDA) and others on allegation of illegal lease and sale of costly CDA commercial plot in Melody Islamabad (Plot No. 11, G-6, Civic Center Melody Islamabad).

NAB DG Rawalpindi, Irfan Naeem Mangi said in light of directions of NAB chairman, Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal all out efforts were being made to recover looted money from swindlers and corrupt persons.

He said NAB chairman had categorically directed all ranks of officers/officials of NAB to pursue proactively corruption cases as per NAB’s Standard Operating Procedures transparently and on merit and take necessary measures to arrest corrupt and proclaimed offenders in order to eradicate corruption from the country.
