DOHA (RIA Novosti): The Netherlands has asked Qatar to transfer its embassy from Afghanistan to Doha , European Foreign Minister Sigrid Kaag said Wednesday.
She arrived in Qatar on a visit amid the completion of the withdrawal of foreign troops from Kabul and the evacuation of civilians.
“The Netherlands greatly appreciates the efforts of Qatar, which helped in the evacuation of foreign citizens and Afghans from Afghanistan. We are awaiting Qatar’s consent to our request to transfer the Dutch embassy from Afghanistan to Doha,” the minister said.
Earlier, American and Japanese embassies moved from Kabul to Doha their diplomatic missions against after the seizure of power by the Taliban.
