Norway government ministries hit by cyber attack

OSLO (Reuters): Twelve Norwegian government ministries have been hit by a cyber attack, Norway’s Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development said in a statement on Monday.

The attack is under investigation by police, the ministry added.

It may be recalled that the Norwegian parliament’s e-mail system was attacked on March 10, 2021, and Oslo blamed China for the cyber attack.

An investigation by the country’s intelligence services had revealed the attack came from “actors operating out of China”, the foreign ministry said in a statement. “Several of our allies, the EU, and Microsoft have also confirmed this.”
