Pagham-e-Pakistan narrative a significant step towards peace

PESHAWAR:T he people from all walks of life here Tuesday appreciated ‘Pagham e Pakistan’ initiative terming it a road map to a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan.

Opposition leader in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa Assembly Maulana Lutf Ur Rehman while talking to media said that all parties agreed to formulate a consensual narrative against menace of terrorism and extremism after a long deliberation and it was a big achievement of present elected government. It is a need of the hour to thwart nefarious designs of enemy of peace, he added.

He said “The collective ‘Fatwa’ (Religious Decree) issued by religious scholars of various schools of thoughts against terrorism was in accordance of Islamic teaching and has declared that there was no room for terrorism and suicide attacks in Pakistan as well as in Islam.”

“It was also a matter of immense satisfaction that Pagham e Pakistan narrative was endorsed by Ulema from all school of thoughts. The support of state institutions was a landmark step towards durable peace in the country,” he said.

He said “We always stood with the state of Pakistan and negated any unconstitutional measures. We have also declared war or armed struggle against state of Pakistan as unconstitutional.”

He said JUI-F believes in democracy. “Islam is a religion of peace and there is no room for terrorism and suicide attacks in it,” he added.

He said that it was a matter of regret that United States President during recent tweet had tried to shutter our peace efforts.

He said that Pakistan efforts must be acknowledged by the world community including US as this war could not be won without the support of Pakistan.

Professor Dr Ejaz Khan of the International Relations Department University of Peshawar said that Pagham e Pakistan narrative was the need of the hour that would help pass a positive and strong message to world that Pakistan love peace and hate terrorism.

Dr Ejaz said terrorism affect economy, lead to poverty, illiteracy and halt foreign investment and its complete elimination was imperative for progress and prosperity.

He underlined the need for taking pragmatic measures for implementation of the new narrative on ground.

PML-N Parliamentary leader in KP Assembly, Sardar Aurganzaib Nalota said the new narrative was an important document that would help promote peace, tolerance and interfaith harmony in the country besides exposing the real face of the supporters of terrorists.

He said this narrative would immensely help promote tolerance, peace, reconciliation and respecting each others’ view-points besides discouraging hate materials and provocative speeches in the society.”

“It is crystal clear now again that the entire nation was on the same page to tackle challenges of extremism and terrorism and our desire for peace should not be considered as weakness.”

He said adaptation of national narrative against terrorism in presence of noted Ulema e Karam, ambassadors, academicians and religious scholars was another big achievement of PML-N government.

Nalota said PML-N government has restored peace in all restive areas including KP, Fata, Karachi and gave rights to people of Fata.

Former Federal Minister Noorul Haq Qadri also termed national narrative an important step and called for practical measures for its implementation at village, town and cities level.

He said nobody knew wounds of terrorism better than tribal people who suffered colossal losses of lives and properties during war against terrorism and demanded for a massive developmental package for reconstruction of damaged infrastructure in Fata.

The speakers said it was prime responsibility of all segment of the society including media, religious scholars, academicians and LG representatives to spread message of Pagham e Pakistan imperative for lasting peace in the country.
