Pak-Azerbaijan should work for better opportunities: President

Islamabad: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that fence along Pakistan-Afghanistan border is being built to prevent terrorists’ infiltration.

The president stated talking to Chief of Royal Malaysian Navy Admiral Tan Sri Ahmad Kamarulzaman HJ Ahmad Badaruddin inIslamabad today. He said Pakistan has broken the back of terrorism and now terrorists are entering in Pakistan from across the border.

The President underscored that operation Zerb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad against terrorism have been successful and terrorists have been eradicated. Mamnoon Hussain said our armed forces have expertise in counter-terrorism and they can also provide training to the brotherly countries.

The president underlined that there are exemplary brotherly relations between Pakistan and Malaysia. He emphasized that there should be regular exchange of high level delegation to further strengthen these relations.

The president also conferred Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) upon Malasian Naval Chief in a special investiture ceremony.

Furthermore President Mamnoon Hussain has said that there is an enormous potential for growth in economic cooperation and bilateral trade between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Both countries should work together to benefit from these opportunities, he added.

The President said this while talking to Finance Minister of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov who along-with a delegation called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Monday.

On the occasion, Finance Minister of Azerbaijan also delivered a special message of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to President Mamnoon Hussain. President Mamnoon Hussain emphasized that there should be frequent exchange of trade and business delegations between the two countries in order to enhance the bilateral trade.

He also underlined that joint ventures should also be started in various fields. The President stated that the two countries have common position on key global and regional issues and they support each other in the international forum which is a reflection of close and brotherly relations between the both counties.

He said that Pakistan supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized borders and particularly supports Azerbaijan on the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh.

He also appreciated Azerbaijan’s stance on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. Finance Minister for Azerbaijan said that Azerbaijan supports Pakistan’s stance on the issue of Kashmir and believes that this issue can be resolved according to the resolutions of United Nations Security Council.

He also stated that Azerbaijan is desirous of further enhancing cooperation with Pakistan in various economic sectors.
