Pakistan sets licence conditions for satellite internet companies

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has set new licence conditions for satellite internet companies operating in the country.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has asked the internet services providers for establishing the Earth gateway stations for getting licence to provide the satellite internet services in the country.

Sources divulged on Friday that the companies would have to respect the geographical limitations of Pakistan. Foreign entities will no longer host the country’s data.

It is pertinent to note that the trend started to make efforts for providing the satellite broadband internet services in the country. Moreover, another, American company Amazon Kuiper has also expressed its willingness to roll out its services in Pakistan following the announcement made by Starlink to introduce its service in the country.

Meanwhile, two of the Chinese companies and another international company have already shown their interest in rolling out their services in Pakistan.
