LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has given B Class to former provincial chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
The Home Department on Monday issued the notification in this regard.
A few days ago, Elahi’e wife claimed her husband’s health was deteriorated. She said she went to meet him in the hospital but the Punjab police did not let her to meet her husband.
She alleged that the manner in which Elahi was treated in the jail was very painful.
PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was arrested outside his residence in Lahore on June 1 in connection with a corruption case.
TV footage showed Elahi being forcefully taken away on a road during the arrest, which came after multiple futile raids at his house.
On June 4, an anti-corruption court in Lahore rejected the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment’s (ACE) plea seeking physical remand of Elahi in the Punjab Assembly illegal recruitments case. The court sent the former Punjab chief minister to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
Ch Shujaat, Salik hold meeting with Pervaiz Elahi at Camp Jail
PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Salim held a meeting with Ch Pervaiz Elahi at Camp Jail in Lahore on Monday.
The meeting between the Chaudhrys continued for 50 days, the prison officials said.
The Punjab Home Department, according to the jail officials, permitted the meeting in Admin Block.
