F.P. Report

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) stopped the government to grant mercy or release the former spokesperson of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Ehsanullah Ehsan without a court order.

The court once again ordered the government that it cannot accept the mercy appeal nor it cannot release the arrested terrorist without the permission of the Peshawar High Court.

Ehsanullah was one of a top leader of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar faction and spokesperson of the banned TTP organized and he had surrendered himself to security forces in April 2017.

Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan and Justice Ikram Ullah Khan, members of the PHC bench heard the petition filed by Fazal Khan, father of an Army Public School (APS) victim and in the petition he stated that the government is planning to grant clemency to TTP leader.

During the hearing, the bench remarked that Ehsanullah is the main culprit in the heinous attack on APS and he can’t be granted clemency by the government.
