PM Abbasi chairs meeting on Islamabad situation

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi chaired a meeting to discuss the situation after the initiation of crackdown against the protestors in capital and other parts of the country.

The operation against the religious group was launched on Saturday to disperse them and later the operation was suspended at approximately 2:30 PM local time. Following the operation, protests were started in major cities of the country.

PM Abbasi chaired meeting in which CM Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal along with district administration and police officials from the twin cities were present.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif met to discuss the situation and deliberated over ways to achieve a peaceful resolution. The two are also expected to meet with the military leadership of the country.

Moreover, PM Abbasi and COAS, Qamar Javed Bajwa will hold an important meeting today to discuss the situation in Islamabad, sources said. The army chief was on a visit to the United Arab Emirates and cut short his trip to reach the country last night.
