PM Imran Khan to preside over federal cabinet meeting tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan will preside over the federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad tomorrow (Tuesday).

The meeting will review various issues including a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the supply routes for NATO forces in Afghanistan.

The federal cabinet will approve the release of the results of the sixth census and Hajj Policy and Plan 2020 will also be presented in the meeting for approval.

The Cabinet meeting will consider the issue of visitor management policy and regulatory framework, while, the extension of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the transit of cargo between Pakistan and the United States will also be on the agenda. Under the MoU, the American cargo can be transported to Afghanistan via Pakistan.

The federal cabinet meeting will be briefed on the holding of a global conference on the 40 years of Afghan refugees in Pakistan. The World Conference will be held on February 17 and 18 in Islamabad.

The cabinet meeting will consider the import of statues from India and summary for the amendment in Export and Import Policy Order 2016 will also submitted in the meeting, while cabinet will also be briefed on the investment.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday has told that all the relevant government agencies have begun an in-depth probe into the flour and sugar price hikes.

In a tweet on social net-working website Twitter, the premier said that he understands the difficulties ordinary people including salaried class are confronting.

My government will be announcing various measures that will be taken to reduce prices of basic food items for the common man in Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, he told.

PM Imran further directed that the nation should rest assured that all those responsible will be held accountable and penalised.

Previously, presiding over a meeting in Islamabad, the premier said strict check should be ensured on the prices of wheat, wheat flour, sugar rice and pulses especially. The meeting also reviewed demand and supply position of the basic food items.

The meeting was attended by Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Hammad Azhar, Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation among others.
