Police showed outstanding performance in difficult situation, says CM

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan on Monday presented appointment letters to wards of police martyrs who have embraced Shahadat in the line of their duties. It merits a mention here that the Chief Minister had already approved the appointment of the wards of 196 police martyrs as Assistant Sub-Inspectors in the provincial police as a special case.

The Chief Minster also gave away commendation letters and cash prizes to various ranked police officials for their outstanding performance shown in various actions against anti-social elements.

Talking on this occasion, Mahmood Khan said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police had shown outstanding performance in every difficult situation, be it the war against terrorism or the prevailing corona situation and added that he rightly felt proud of his police.

“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has set unprecedented examples of sacrifices in restoring law and order in the province”, the Chief Minister remarked adding that police personnel of the lowest rank up to the highest rank have laid down their precious lives to protect the lives and properties of common man which can be remembered for a long time to come.

Mahmood Khan maintained that the provincial government would not let the sacrifices of police martyrs go waste and would extend all kind of support to the families of those martyrs adding that his government will take all the necessary steps to ensure a bright future for their heirs.

Meanwhile the Chief Minister, through the Drone Surveillance and Vehicle Streaming System put in place at Central Police Office, directly reviewed the lockdown situation and implementation of social distancing measures is various places of the province.

Through the vehicle Streaming System he talked to the police personnel on duties at various points and got real time information about the situation. Mahmood Khan appreciated the high ups of police for putting in place such a sophisticated technological system of surveillance and termed it as a good initiative to cater for the requirements of modern policing.

He was given a detail briefing about various aspects of the Drone Surveillance and Vehicle Streaming System and its utility in the prevailing situation.

On this occasion the Chief Minister also made and address to all the Regional Police officers across the province through a video link and appreciated their role in the prevailing situation.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmmod Khan, on Monday revealed that overall corona testing capacity in the province was increased from initial forty tests per day to one thousand tests per day and said that work is in progress to further increase the testing capacity.

Paying rich tribute to the first responders in the prevailing corona situation, Mahmood Khan has said that the role of health workers, police personnel, Rescue workers and all other frontline workers was highly appreciable. He was addressing a tele-conference at Chief Minister House Peshawar on Monday. The Chief Minister said that the provincial government had announced a total package worth Rs. 32 Billion to effectively deal with the corona situation out of which 13 Billion will be given as top up to Ihsaas Emergency Cash Program for distribution amongst 2.2 Million deserving population of the province.

“As many as 8.00 Billion have been released to Health Department for necessary procurements and treatment facilities of corona patients whereas 6.00 Billion have been released to Relief Department for relief activities of emergency nature”; the Chief Minister remarked adding that the provincial government is making all possible efforts to effectively deal with the corona pandemic.

Mahmood Khan maintained that necessary arrangements had been put in place by the provincial government for people expected to come from Afghanistan and Gulf countries, and continued that people coming from abroad would be kept in quarantine facilities for initial days followed by screening and testing; and they would be allowed to go to their homes if their test were clear.

Mahmood Khan made an appeal to the general public to extend maximum cooperation to the administration regarding social distancing measures adding that without the public support, the government’s efforts would not yield the desired results. He urged upon the public to inform the administration about the corona suspects and symptomatic people in the respective areas through the contact numbers of the control rooms set up for this purpose.

Regarding the members of Tableeghi Jummaat, the Chief Minister said that those people deserved special attention of the government and as such the relevant quarters have been issued instructions to make special arrangements for them.

Touching upon the relief package worth Rs. 114 Billion announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan, he termed it as the largest relief package in the history of the country and said that under the package deserving families were given a cash amount of Rs. 12000 each across the country.

“Under the relief package of provincial government almost 2.2 Million deserving families of the province would be provided Rs. 6000 each whereas under the zakat fund another one hundred thousand deserving families would be provided Rs. 12000 each. Mahmood Khan made an appeal to the well of people to take care of the vulnerable people around them in the prevailing difficult situation.
