PPP candidate survives attempt on life near Lahore

LAHORE: A Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate for Punjab Assembly from Ferozwala near Lahore has escaped an attempt on life Monday.

Malik Jamshed Shahbaz, PPP candidate from PP-138, was fired upon when he was campaigning in his constituency.

According to police, unidentified gunmen opened fire on Jamshed Shahbaz in Kot Abdul Malik area. He miraculously survived the attack, the police added.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken notice of aerial firing during an election rally of PS-105 candidate Irfanullah Marwat in Karachi East.

The ECP’s district monitoring officer has sent a show-cause notice to Irfanullah Marwat for violating clause 17 of the code of conduct, directing the PS105 candidate to submit his reply in two days.
