NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: In an unfortunate event, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Member of Sindh Assembly (MPA) Shhenaz Ansari was assassinated in Noshero Feroz over a property dispute here on Saturday.
According to police, the PPP leader was taken to the People’s Medical Hospital in Nawabshah where she succumbed to her wounds. The assassinated PPP leader received three fatal gunshots.
The police said that she was attacked over differences in a matter related to land ownership in Noshero Feroz.
The police have cordoned off the village where the attack occurred but the people suspected of firing at Ansari have fled.
Sources said that Shahnaz Ansari was observing a Chehlum ceremony of her brother-in-law Dr Zahid Khokhar in Ali Murad Khokhar village. An argument reportedly broke out after which some relatives opened fire at her.
Police stated that MPA’s brother-in-law had a land dispute with his family, while family sources informed that late brother-in-law Dr. Zahid Khokhar’s brothers also forbade the MPA from visiting the village.
Investigating authorities apprised that the heinous crime was executed by a man who fled the scene and is on large now.
Ansari has been elected MPA twice on reserved seats for women from Naushahro Feroze city, her hometown.
On receiving the news, PPP’s elected representatives and workers gathered outside the hospital.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed deep grief and condemned the killing of MPA. In a statement, he directed the authorities concerned to launch inquiry and take the culprits to task at the earliest.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, taking notice of the attack on MPA Shahnaz Ansari, has demanded a report from the Deputy Commissioner and SSP Naushahro Feroze.
He also called for immediate arrest of the attackers involved in the murder of Shahnaz Ansari.
Meanwhile, PPP’s Shehla Raza has said that that she just found about Ansari’s death via a TV channel and that it was very shocking. She said Ansari was a very good social worker and political worker.
She expressed her shock that an attack like this would occur at a family event.
